The News Loft Apartments: A Renaissance Building

Historic Adaptive Reuse in Troy, New York

The News Loft Apartments is an adaptive reuse of a 1908 historic building that was the longtime home of The Troy Record newspaper. The building supports a mixed-occupancy including 8,400 square feet of ground floor retail space, 101 residential apartments and a 10,000-square-foot parking garage.

Developed in strict conformance with the National Park Service’s Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings, details and character of the existing structure have been preserved. The history of The Record’s century-long residence in the building has been referenced throughout in custom finishes and details.

The building features a number of building amenities for tenants including a fitness center, entertainment lounge, rooftop deck, bicycle storage and repair, pet care, co-working space and onsite parking.

“We have worked with Balzer and Tuck on several challenging adaptive reuse and infill projects; their team consistently delivers timely, thoughtful designs that are at once attractive, contextually appropriate, eminently build-able and now, award-winning!”- Seth Rosenblum, Rosenblum Company
