On a densely-wooded six-acre lot in a long-established residential area of Loudonville, New York, sat a 1980s ‘contemporary-style’ residence. The owners came to Balzer and Tuck with a vision for a complete transformation. Working closely with the owners to understand their ideas, Balzer and Tuck reinvented the property into a Tuscan-inspired villa.
To bring the villa to life, a number of additions were made including a master suite, front entry, third-floor children’s bedroom suite and a detached three-car garage with a guest living area above.
Low-sloping rooflines with deep overhangs reshape the existing exterior architecture and create dramatic cathedral-shaped volumes within the home. Views to the exterior woods and inground pool with new pool house were established with large glazed areas along the rear elevation, introducing much-needed daylight to the interior.
